Bucan was founded in Polokwane in December 1975, where it traded from a small premises situated at 42 Schoeman Street. The business traded here from 1975 to 1980 as an agent of Olivetti and S.P.A, a distributor of:  manual and electronic typewriters;  adding machines;  electronic calculators and plain paper copiers. During this period Bucan employed 5 people: 3 salesmen, 1 secretary and 1 storeman. Deliveries of equipment and accessories( ribbons, paper rolls, photocopy paper) were done by the salesmen.

By 1981 Bucan had grown and the workshop was added, thus bigger premises were required. At this stage it moved to 67 Schoeman street, adding to its line Ollivetti products; All Sharp products (Photocopiers, Calculators, Coin counters etc); as well as Casio cash registers.

In 1983, Bucan opened  a branch in Tzaneen with 2 technical assistants and an office secretary.

The continued expansion of Bucan led to its move in May 1990, to it’s present premises at 53 Bok Street.

Today Bucan employs 30 people in Polokwane and 6 in Tzaneen. The Polokwane workshop for technical support is the largest in the province. It is a company which still offers its employees a pension fund and medical aid scheme. The company also provides extensive training for the technical team in computers, printers, photocopiers and cash registers. Bucan is also proud to have been able to recognize a number of employees for 25 years of service to the company .

In March 2000, Bucan again expanded, this time adding a stationery store ( selling leading brands like Pentel, Treeline, Croxley and more) as well as a wide range of Office Furniture.

Today, Bucan Office Equipment and Stationer is a leading, truly comprehensive office equipment supplier and a well established, reputable technical support provider for the entire Limpopo Province.
